It is the primary responsibility of the Junior Design Manager to provide design coordination efforts within the Global Design and Development team, with emphasis on the project interior and/or architectural design efforts of our Japan Integrated Resort in Osaka. This individual must have the capability to handle multiple areas/projects concurrently from design documentation through construction administration phases. It is essential in this role to possess a high level of design creativity along with management and communication skills. The Junior Designer Manager has a complete grasp of all project design consultant’s roles and responsibilities and can advise and assist Interior Designers, Local documentation teams and contractors on the project. In particular the in understanding their responsibilities and meeting their project. This individual uses thoughtful communication, previous project experience and other interpersonal and technical skills to provide a level of leadership among the design team during daily project activities. A working knowledge of interior and/or architectural design, construction detailing, codes related to life safety and interior finishes/furnishings, and the specification of sustainable interior products is expected.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide support and coordination in guiding the Project design with General Contractor and design consultants for architecture and/or interiors.
Work with Japan-based team and other project stakeholders to establish design and construction strategies that allow for the integration and coordination of creative designs with a view toward elevating the customer experiences within the bounds of our project budget and schedule.
Attend regular design related project meetings and represent our interests and positions as related to design.
Create monthly design reports including design activities, project schedules and milestones, risks and issues.
Review designs and provide clear and concise design direction to design teams, contractors, fabricators and specialty suppliers.
Review drawings and plans submitted by Design Consultants for conformance to the documented space and provide feedback based on our design content directions.
Provide direction for and/or review technical design, FF&E design and specifications provided by Architects, Designers, or fabricators.
Work as an integrated team member of our international team (Japan and USA) of design managers.
Work closely with our development partner to build consensus around design decisions.
Communicate, present, and discuss design directions and decisions with US based project stakeholders.
Be available to conduct frequent site visits and on-site coordination meetings as the project moves to the construction phase of work.
Organize submittals, mockups, prototypes, and shop drawings as necessary to receive reviews and approvals from project design and management leads.
