Please tell us about your career and what led you to become a recruiter.
I came to Japan through the JET Program and worked as an English teacher for about four years. I found the work in education fulfilling, but as I looked ahead, I wanted to broaden my career and develop a more diverse set of skills. It was during this time that I discovered the role of a recruiter.
I was drawn to the freedom of managing my own schedule and the opportunity to work closely with both job seekers and companies. The fact that effort directly translates into success made me feel that I could grow significantly, and that’s when I decided to make a career change.
Were there any challenges after transitioning into a recruiter role?
The first big challenge I faced was making cold calls to companies. Calling someone I didn’t know and trying to lead the conversation to get their interest was completely different from my previous role as a teacher. At first, I was very nervous.
However, through practice and experience, I became more comfortable and learned a lot along the way. Now, I’m able to confidently communicate with companies, and I feel that I’ve grown in this role.

What made you decide to join BRS?
The decision was influenced by a recommendation from a friend. As I learned more about BRS, I was drawn to the flexibility in the work environment compared to my previous companies, as well as the diverse backgrounds of the people who thrive here.
What stood out to me the most was the opportunity to work autonomously, with the freedom to make decisions and manage my own schedule. This ability to drive results through creativity and initiative, while maintaining a balance of responsibility and freedom, was the key factor in my decision to join.
What have you experienced since joining BRS?
Since joining BRS, I've truly appreciated the open and transparent work culture. There is a flat hierarchy that allows me to communicate freely with directors and managers. For example, my manager has a "feel free to reach out anytime" approach, which makes it comfortable to ask for help whenever needed.
With their wealth of knowledge and experience, I receive valuable advice during our weekly meetings that helps me stay focused on my goals and contributes to my growth.
Additionally, there's a strong culture of recognizing each other’s efforts and achievements. For instance, when our team hits a milestone, we celebrate together with a lunch gathering, reinforcing the company’s emphasis on teamwork.
What do you consider to be BRS's strengths in your work?
One of the strengths that stands out to me at BRS is the strong brand recognition and trust that comes with "PERSOL CAREER ," which is a well-known name in the Japanese market.
When I reach out to hiring companies or job seekers and introduce myself as a recruiter from PERSOL CAREER , I often find that it helps establish trust and makes the conversation smoother. This has been a great support in my approach and outreach efforts.
What do you find interesting about working as a recruiter?
One of the unique opportunities of being a recruiter is the chance to work closely with well-known global companies that I wouldn't typically engage with in other roles.
Even though I'm not directly working within these companies, I get to deeply understand their business, collaborate with them, and support their growth in the Japanese market through talent acquisition. It's a rare and rewarding experience that I find very fulfilling.

At BRS, where multinational team members come together, English is the common language. How do you find the work environment in terms of language and cultural diversity?
In Japan, it’s still rare to find a workplace where you can fully work in an English-speaking environment, but at BRS, I feel it's a very comfortable place for foreign team members who use English. Many employees are bilingual or have strong English skills, so communication at work is never an issue.
When it comes to Japanese documents and procedures, the administrative team is always quick to provide support, allowing me to focus on my core responsibilities.
Please share a message for those considering joining BRS.
At BRS, you'll experience a flexible work environment that encourages you to develop your own professional style. When you deliver results, you earn greater trust and responsibility. The freedom to manage your own schedule also helps maintain a sustainable work-life balance. Plus, through your day-to-day work, you'll find numerous opportunities for learning and growth.
If you're considering a career in recruitment, I encourage you to give it a try.
