- We engage in marketing and sales promotion activities for imported cigarettes while manufacturing and selling tobacco products domestically in Japan. Alongside providing smoking products, we also dedicate efforts to developing smoking cessation support programs and new smoke-free alternatives. We aim to consider the health of smokers while fulfilling our social responsibility. Additionally, we work on providing information about tobacco regulations and health risks, conducting business activities with consideration for public health.

Demand and Spend Management:
- Liaise with affiliate business stakeholders and senior management team to understand departmental or project strategies and to develop Procurement plans/strategies for specific projects or areas, cost estimates, & schedules for integrating these business needs into existing and future procurement activities that influence or support specific department spend optimization.
- Strong working relationship with Finance to ensure full visibility and knowledge of Procurement addressable budget and spend to facilitate proactive sourcing and translation into procurement strategies.
- Lead relationships with main local and/or regional/global suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions to purchase goods/services at the best mix quality-price-service according to company and market standards.
- Leverage supplier performance evaluation to segment the supply base and (re) define the whole Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy.
- Review assessments of supplier performance and customer satisfaction surveys to address improvements of commercial terms and business relationships or recommend alternatives that fully meet their requirements.
- Develop sustainability strategy and direct the team to embed into day-to-day sourcing activities and liaise with the wider team to action sustainability initiatives and drive sustainability within the company.
- Stay ahead of sustainability trends and innovations, as well as relevant local government requirements.
- Monitor results of sustainability assessment performed on sustainability platform and discuss improvement areas and set remediation goals with suppliers.
- Conduct and interpret industry, market and relevant macro-economic and supplier research for your affiliate/categories.
- At affiliate and/or cluster level and for the assigned categories, build industry know-how on markets, suppliers and products/services and provide recommendations from market analyses and benchmarks to internal stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations with major suppliers locally and/or regionally to ensure key cost savings targets, payment terms target, and quality standards of products/services are met.
- Establish price forecasts for OB and RF budget cycles to enable procurement and finance to perform expense forecasts/calculations & consolidated reporting.
- Identify and propose synergy opportunities on an affiliate/regional/global level.
- Lead the implementation of local/regional/cluster/global sourcing initiatives in coordination with the regional/ cluster/global category managers to contribute to the overall cost savings targets and supplier base optimization defined at corporate level.
- Whenever relevant facilitate communication with OC, Regional team, other affiliates and other PMI Functions
- Requirements

- 10+ years of procurement experience, preferably in indirect procurement in a FMCG and/or MNC 3
- Communication skills in English (Japanese language skills are a strong plus)
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, particularly on key contract elements.
- Ability to collaborate between Global and Regional functions.
- Ability to lead high complex sourcing events (RFPs)
- Comfortable liaising with stakeholders of varying levels of seniority within, and outside of, PMI
- Financial understanding of: Budgeting process, Payment terms, Cashflow improvement, inflation, currency exchange, depreciation, withholding tax, others.
- Communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively present ideas and results to local, regional, and global Management Teams
