Responsibilities
The Head of Global Trade Compliance Operations is a dynamic thought leader, responsible for creating, implementing and leading the strategic direction and global management of the company's Global Trade Compliance Operations organization and program. Lead the creation, implementation, and drive an innovative digitally enabled global trade operations program that is agile and resilient. Provide strategic advice to the company on trade matters, orchestrate global trade operations program which ensures compliance with global and local regulations. Will interface with senior and executive leadership in Legal, Supply Chain, Compliance, and with external stakeholders involved with global trade. The Leader must have excellent organizational skills, exceptional subject matter expertise, a high degree of adaptability and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities.
Main responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and lead the company's Global Trade Compliance Operations program, policies, and teams to ensure compliance to all relevant rules and regulations of governing Agencies. Inclusive of global department and function budget and organization development, target setting and annual attainment.
  • Create and lead strategic direction of trade operations processes to ensure robust risk mitigation management consistent with requirements of all countries and regions in which the Company transacts business.
  • Collaborate with Trade Compliance Governance on remediation activities along with go forward governance of the company`s Global Trade Program.
  • Ensure a robust monitoring, risk assessment and auditing program and tools are in place to verify performance and accuracy of activity performed by 3rd party suppliers contracted by the business and internal trade program.
  • Manage global trade partners engaged by the business to ensure full compliance with governing laws and regulations while ensuring performance service level agreements and quality are delivered.
  • Leads global trade operations program to facilitate global trade on day-to-day basis ensuring correct submissions to regulators including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications, Sanctioned Country licensing determinations, controlled export classifications and license management, restricted party screening, and country of origin declarations.
  • Ensure proper compliance on all international trade matters from import, export, customs duty management, free trade agreements, etc
  • Initiate and introduce compliance programs to internal and external stakeholders to deliver more systemized operational processes and reduce non-compliant cases
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure policies and procedures align with trade regulations and provide necessary data for trade team to facilitate global trade. Departments such as Trade Governance, R&D, business development, Finance, Customer Service, IT, Supply Chain, Sourcing/Procurement, etc
  • Liaise with Global Trade Governance and regional trade operations groups to facilitate compliance with global, country specific and corporate policies and regulations.
  • Working with regional leads, deploy, monitor and improve the effectiveness of compliance controls and processes and ensure there is sufficient focus and resources dedicated to the trade compliance operations function for each location and make recommendations to senior leaders to close any gaps.
  • Conduct periodic assessments and monitoring of business units, customs brokers and supply chain service providers to confirm trade compliance policies are implemented appropriately.
  • Outline process improvements and implement policies and procedures to meet our stated goals and to provide for quick response/higher service levels to our customers, lead the move toward the integration of new and updated technology to meet the specifications for supply chain and logistics management.

Requirements
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in business administration, trade compliance (import/export), supply chain management, logistics or other relevant field of study and experience
  • 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience, with proven track record in management, operations management, business process optimization, or process improvement, with measurable outcomes; with demonstrated focus and proficiency in change and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with working, communicating, and facilitating across multiple layers of organizational structure; demonstrating comfort with both front-line employees and Executive or C-Level stakeholders.
  • 10-15 years’ experience leading a multi-entity/business unit trade compliance program.
  • Minimum 5 years people management experience required.
  • Experience developing and implementing trade programs, policies and procedures, and transforming a trade compliance organization within a multi-national organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of global trade import and export regulations and laws.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining global trade compliance programs, polices and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability in English.
