Our client is a venture company that is actively addressing the planet's space debris problem by making serious strides in removing space debris from the planet's orbit. They also collaborate with other companies, organizations, and government agencies in a joint effort to formulate guidelines and laws for responsible space exploration and use.
Responsibilities
  • Thermal control design and analysis of satellite
  • Optimization of combination of passive and active thermal control to maintain all part of satellite within allowable temperature limits. Passive control includes tuning of conduction/radiation heat paths. Active control includes electrical heaters. No convection exists in space environment.
  • Design of thermal instrumentation hardware (e.g. Multi-layer insulation) and its implementation on satellite
  • Creation and maintenance of satellite thermal mathematical models those consist of conduction/radiation nodal network and geometry models with thermal optical properties.
  • Prediction of temperature distribution and heater power dissipation using thermal analysis codes and thermal mathematical models of satellites.
  • Correlation of thermal mathematical model using thermal balance test results.
  • Coordination of thermal interface among satellite subsystems.
  • Thermal tests of satellite
  • Creation of assembly, integration and verification plan for thermal control subsystems.
  • Making test plans and procedures for thermal vacuum and thermal balance tests. Joining the tests as a responsible engineer.
  • Design and preparation of test setup and jigs for thermal tests.
  • Development management.
  • Creation of development plan for satellite thermal control subsystems.
  • Management of development schedule and cost
  • Management of thermal hardware manufacturers and outsourcing vendors.
  • Report the progress and results of thermal design analysis, study, and development management to group managers and project managers on a timely basis.
Requirements
  • Essential knowledge about conductive and radiative heat transfer.
  • Practical experience of thermal control design or analysis or tests in aerospace, automotive, electronics devices, and robotics development.
  • Business level English & Japanese.
Desired Skills:
  • To be able to use thermal analysis software 'Thermal Desktop' .
  • Basic knowledge of orbital mechanics
  • Basic Knowledge of Spacecraft systems
