Our client is a venture company that is actively addressing the planet's space debris problem by making serious strides in removing space debris from the planet's orbit. They also collaborate with other companies, organizations, and government agencies in a joint effort to formulate guidelines and laws for responsible space exploration and use.

Responsibilities

• As part of the systems team, understand the systems design and concept of operations (CONOPS) and work with subsystem engineers to develop comprehensive systems safety design
• Understand systems safety requirements for the project
• Support systems trade off from safety perspective
• Perform systems safety analysis, such as failure modes a, effects analysis (FMEA), and fault tree analysis (FTA)
• Develop fault detection isolation and recovery (FDIR) design to support complex rendezvous proximity operations (RPO) mission
• Support systems verification activities, including development of verification requirements, test execution, and report generation
• Support other Mission & Systems design and verification activities, leveraging the core responsibility and expertise in the Safety Engineering.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in complex systems safety design/analysis
• Systems level knowledge in systems design and AIV (Assembly, Integration and Verification) activities, with practical experience in several phases of the lifecycle from requirements definition through to verification
• Flexibility to adapt and work in a fast paced and changing environment, and able to accommodate those changes in the work schedule
• Excellent communication skills to team members with various industry background
• English language capability TOEIC 700+
• Business level Japanese to communicate with Japanese team members

Desired Skills:

• 5+ years of work experience with 3+ years of spacecraft systems safety design/analysis experience
• Knowledge of missions concerning active debris removal or RPO: RemoveDebris, CleanSpace / ESA projects e.g. e.DeOrbit, DEOS, ATV, ETS-7, DARPA Express. Unless explicitly notified otherwise, our vacancies are covered by Export Control Laws which require candidates to be from an "Export Safe" Country as deemed by the Japanese Government.
