- Responsibilities
-
The primary function of this role is to assist the GC in Japan by providing a wide range of legal services covering all aspects of the sourcing, development and leasing of logistics and data centre properties, as well as the related fund activities.
Main responsibilities:- Providing a wide range of commercially focussed legal advice to all teams within the business, in particular the land sourcing, construction management, leasing, and fund management teams
- Negotiation and drafting of business agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Service Agreements, Lease Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding
- Instructing external law firms and overseeing transactions
- Assistance with compliance and risk management function
- Primary management of Internal Audit function
- Assistance with Company Secretarial function
- Managing Occupational Health & Safety issues, particularly portfolio and customer safety inspections
- Liaising with and reporting to head office on Legal and Compliance issues

- Requirements

Minimum requirements:
- Able to interpret legal advice obtained from external counsel and apply to practical commercial situations within the business.
- Excellent knowledge of Japan real estate & funds management law and able to apply it in a commercial way
- Able to review and critically analyse drafting by external lawyers.
- Native or near-native written and verbal communication skills in Japanese
- Business-level written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Must have high level initiative and be a problem solver.
- Professionalism in demeanour and all other aspects of the work
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience either in-house or at a law firm.
- Experience of operating at a management level and under pressure
- Experience in legal risk management through the negotiation and management of contracts, acquisition agreements and other property, finance and corporate related documents.
- Japanese: Native level, English: Fluent
Preferred qualifications:- Real Estate Brokerage (Takken) Manager qualification an advantage

- 契約交渉および管理、売買契約、その他の不動産、金融、および企業関連書類を通じて、法的リスクマネジメントをした経験
- 日本語:ネイティブレベル、英語:流暢
