- Responsibilities
-
The People Operations Specialist will act as a business partner and will work closely with Operations Management Teams in Japan. This position will be the Industrial Relations Lead and have a strong focus on Industrial Relations to promote positive relationships between the organization and its employees by fostering a workplace culture that values open communication, fairness, trust, collaboration and employee development.
He/She will build and develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to achieve optimal business outcomes, perform roles and responsibilities related to industrial relations, people advisory, proactive change management and employee engagement.
He/She will also be involved in strategic projects locally and regionally which will involve planning and implementation using Agile methodology, application of global perspective to introduce positive changes with the objective to ensure an effective, diverse and inclusive workforce to achieve business objectives and maintain APAC's Employer of Choice status.
Main responsibilities:- Industrial Relations
- As IR Lead, provide sound advice and recommendations to management on IR Strategies, building trust, addressing issues related to employee relations, labor laws, and human resources policies.
- Responsible for monitoring and analysing employee relations data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Regular interaction with Union and responsible for negotiating with them or employee groups to ensure that the interests of both parties are represented and maintain peaceful relations
- Collaborating with Management in developing and implementing programs that will improve employee relations, such as grievances and have a more positive work environment.
- Responsible for resolving disputes between employees and management, and between different groups of employees and managing employee communication by keeping employees informed about changes in policies, collective bargaining agreements, and other issues related to employee relations.
- People Advisory
- Applying professional knowledge by providing sound advice to Management on people-related matters and concerns, employees, managing or maintaining systems or processes or completing projects to develop or changing systems or processes as appropriate.
- Proactive Change Management, Planning and Implementation
- Proactively analyse business issues, identify opportunities and constraints and give recommendations on high impact issues to overcome potential challenges to implementation. Actively drive change management and leverage on strong collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure successful change management.
- Compliance and Technical Expertise
- Maintaining expert knowledge on labor-related legislations, trends and business environment that can potentially have implications on the Company and give recommendations based on potential risks. Develop and build upon knowledge of compant standards, policies and procedures.
- Employee engagement
- Communicating people policies, systems and programs to employees. Partner with Management to drive employee engagement and promoting the corporate culture/values.
- Others
- Regular interaction with the Team in Japan and peers in other countries
- Regular interaction with employees, First Line Management and Senior Managers in the location
- Regular interaction with union employees including meetings
- Regular interaction with key stakeholders based on local/regional projects
- Occasional interaction with Vendors (as applicable)
- Occasional interaction with Consultants (on a needed basis)
- Occasional interaction with Government agencies/authorities & trade associations (as applicable)

- Requirements

Minimum requirements:
- At least three (3) years of work experience with strong focus and responsibilities concentrated on Industrial Relations
- Other experience on General HR, People Engagement experience or management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in any discipline.
- Proven expertise/experience in Industrial Relations
- Strong knowledge of Labor Legislation and/or Employment laws.
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and work in a network team collaborating with other HR and non-HR colleague
- Curious and adaptable to navigate new ways of working and innovative practices
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, human relations, analysis, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Strong drive to develop and grow themselves and their career in the company.
- Organized, self-driven and works independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese (business level).
- Strong PowerPoint presentation including presenting analytical findings to key stakeholders.
