Job ScopeHR Generalist will be an integral member of Japan HR team (5 members) to coordinate key HR elements within/ across the lifecycle for colleagues in Japan. We serve as key points of contact and counsel colleagues, on a broad range of HR policies and guidelines. Our responsibilities include (but not limited to): Personnel (onboarding, departure, role change, leave of absence, flex work) Recruiting and hiring process for selected functions Mobility (e.g., intra company transfer coordination, immigration) Benefits (e.g., healthcare program, employee welfare program, working parents support, insurance) including liaising with external vendors Development processes such as evaluation, performance management, and capability building Ensure compliance with firm policy and legal requirements (e.g., employment rules, labor law, work hour management) Personnel analysis; accountable for HR standards, data management with an audit mindset Projects to support office/Firm priorities (e.g. mental health, workplace safety, diversity and inclusion), contributing to efforts beyond immediate scope as needed
Role DescriptionThe new member will be responsible for some key HR processes and programs, and to be located in the Kansai Office. Specific responsibilities may include (but not limited to the following): Mobility coordinator role, who is responsible for coordinating, supporting and managing the key mobility processes and programs, in close collaboration with miscellaneous stakeholders including global counterparts and vendors. Provide counseling and support to transferees Initiate communication and paperwork necessary to complete a transfer Develop knowledge in the Firm’s mobility policy to provide guidance to transferees and serve as a thought partner to sending and receiving cells Coordinate the inbound and outbound transfer process including: immigration, personal and family needs, housing assistance, and preparing written move documents Monitor and ensure the timely payment of mobility allowances and compensation, including following up with relevant parties on payroll set up Ensure that the relevant people systems accurately reflect data associated with the colleague’s transfer status Address concerns and problem-solve complex HR issues and exceptions to general policies in collaboration with office-based HR teams and Firm Function teams Employment program management (e.g., fixed-term employment, post-retirement employment, status change, flexible working arrangement). Manage program including documentation Communicate with individuals Work hour management Design and manage workflow Monitor working hours Produce report and analyze data Follow up with managers and individuals Recruiting for selected functions Act as a recruiter for backoffice staff recruitment
In addition to core responsibilities to service for all Japan based colleagues, the new member is expected to expand HR functionality in Kansai and support people on broader agenda as an onsite member in Kansai.
Experience & Background University bachelor’s degree Minimum of 5 years working experience including general HR experience Experience of working in a multinational environment or professional firm is a plus Understanding of local labor considerations is a plus
